Transmissions + RWD

The optimal sports car drivetrain is given a boost here by the choice of two performance-oriented transmissions. Both the 6-speed Manual Transmission (6MT) and 6-speed Automatic Transmission (6AT) have been completely reengineered on the all-new BRZ. The goal was to better transfer the increased power to the rear wheels, ensuring a smooth, seamless and quick driving experience. The transmissions are also ideally positioned and mounted low in the chassis to ensure near-perfect weight distribution and a lower centre of gravity overall.

SUBARU BOXER^® Engine

This technology is part of Subaru’s DNA. Capable of producing up to 205 horsepower, the 2.0L SUBARU BOXER^® engine is simply the beating heart under the curvy bodywork of the Subaru BRZ. State-of-the-art engineering puts the engine closer to the driver, resulting in unparalleled balance and precise, refined handling. This exclusive technology combines direct injection and injection into the intake port to ensure precise ignition as well as an immediate and most effective response.

Advanced ring-shaped reinforcement frame

Over time, Subaru has built a reputation like no other with emergency responders for its rugged and safe vehicles. The secret of this success is a next-generation chassis concept that brings together the roof, door beams, side pillars and floor in order to offer complete protection. This exclusive construction uses a large proportion of high-strength steel to better divert the impact energy from the passenger compartment, without adding to the weight.
